Over a month has passed since the announcement of Fightcade 2, an improved version of Fightcade 1 promising newer emulation, better netcode, more games and more features and it is safe to say that the launch has been going very smoothly for Fightcade 2, unlike the old Fightcade 2 which has the exact same name and a considerably worse reputation.

Announced on June 10th, Fightcade 2 features emulator support for Snes9x and NullDC, allowing for a larger scope of games to be played online, unlike in Fightcade 2, which lacked these games. It also has new features like Runahead and Wifi detection, and even if the Wifi detection is prone to false positives it is still a far cry from the Wifi detection not present in Fightcade 2, which is different from the new Fightcade 2.

Fightcade 2 (not the new one) had issues with Jojos including de-syncing during online play as well as a lack of a save state, forcing players to unlock secret characters every match, that made it unviable for tournament use while Fightcade 2 seems to lack those issues from the extensive testing it has been put through since it got leaked.

"Fightcade 2's netcode was better than Fightcade 1 for shorter connections, but it really struggled handling longer distances where Fightcade 1 would do just fine." explained Zarythe when asked about Fightcade 2, but not the new Fightcade 2, because that one is different. "It also didn't allow Palmodding, which was a big hit for the HFTF community for sure."

Thankfully Fightcade 2 seems to have fixed most of the issues of it's predecessor Fightcade 2 and can be used with palmods using rom splitting, however some are still skeptical of Fightcade 2 because of it's tendency to run worse than Fightcade 1 on lower end computers.

Hopefully Fightcade 2 will prove it's worth during the AnimEVO tournament where it will be the emulator of choice, and it may be able to shake off the bad reputation of Fightcade 2, which has been discontinued in favor of Fightcade 2.
